Ilya Bryzgalov Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov is on fire and his great play in the nets earned him the NHL’s No. 1 star of the week. Bryz allowed just two goals in winning all three of his starts last week. First, he made 37 saves in the Flyers’ 3-2 win over Detroit, then he posted consecutive shutouts in the Flyers’ 5-0 win over Florida and 1-0 victory in Toronto.

Timonen, Meszaros out for Caps game

The Flyers official comment on defensemen Kimmo Timonen, Andrej Meszaros and Braydon Coburn missing practice on Saturday was “maintainence day.” Turns out this wasn’t exactly the truth. Briere avoids another concussion, playing tonight

Flyers center Danny Briere is good to go for tonight’s game against the New York Islanders. His scare the other night in San Jose was just that and nothing more. “Luckily I don’t think I ran into the boards too hard,” Briere said, recalling a third-period head shot in the Flyers’ 1-0 loss in San Jose on Thursday that momentarily dazed him. “Sometimes I think the impact is just as important as how awkwardly you go into the boards.
