This afternoon the Rangers come to Philly to finish up the season series between the two teams. Rangers lead the series 4-3 winning the last meeting 3-2 going to a shootout on April 4 in New York. The Flyers are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Devils on Thursday. The Rangers are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Penguins on Thursday.
Both the Flyers and Devils are 3 points behind the Rangers for first in the division. The Rangers have only 2 games left. If they win this one, they will clinch the Atlantic Division Championship, the first time since 93-94. The Flyers have 3 games remaining, a win by the Flyers would pull them within a point of the Rangers.
Injuries for the Flyers include Keith Primeau, Kim Johnsson and Chris Therien. Robert Esche is also out with the flu. Jamie Storr has been called up from the Phantoms to back up Antero Niittymaki. Peter Forsberg who has missed 4 games with a lower body injury is expected to be back in the lineup. Denis Gauthier will also be back in the lineup after severing his 2 game suspension.
Injuries for the Rangers include Marek Malik, Daruis Kasparaitis, Steven Rucchin, Henrik Lundqvist and Martin Rucinksy. Most of those are considered day-to-day.
The Phantoms play their last game of the season tonight at Wilkes-Barre/Scanton. This is the first year they have not made the playoffs. Given the amount of players they lost to the Flyers this year I am not surprised by this.
