The Flyers get their first win of the season in New York against the Rangers last night 4-2. Forsberg, Gagne, Knuble, Sanderson each scored for the Flyers.
The Flyers gave up their first penalty kill goal of the year giving them a 94.4% PK rate. If their PK keeps up it will be a big boost from last year when they finished near the bottom of the league on the PK.
Niko Dimitrakos got the start with Randy Robitaille and Riley Cote as healthy scratches.
Dimitrakos was lined up with Umberger and Carter the line that played so well together last season. While the line did finish -1 overall they played well like the rest of the team.
Antero Niittymaki got the start in goal for the second straight game and was solid. The Flyers played a dominating first period only allowing 2 shots. The Rangers picked it up in the second and third ultimately out shooting the Flyers 27-24.
Three stars for the game were Forsberg, Gagne and Shanahan.
Riley Cote was sent back down to the Phantoms today.
No downtime for the Flyers today as they play the Montreal Canadiens at home tonight. Canadiens are coming off a 3 day rest after beating the Leafs going to a shootout 3-2 in Toronto.
