Flyers fall to Canadiens 3-1

The Flyers lost to the Canadiens Wednesday night 3-1 in Philadelphia.

The Canadiens scored the first goal of the game 38 seconds into the first period and added another goal in the 2nd. R.J. Umberger scored the only Flyers goal early in the third period.

While the Flyers did kill off all 4 penalties they did not score on any of the 8 power plays they had. A PP goal could have easily turned the game.

Joni Pitkanen continues to lead the Flyers in icetime playing 7 more minutes then any other player in the game.

Antero Niittymaki made his third straight start, his second game in 2 days and was solid in net. He gave up 2 goals on 22 shots.

Aebischer, Kovalev and Richards were the three stars.

Boyd Kane was a healthy scratch.

While a lost definitely does suck it really didn’t bother me that much. The Flyers played a good high energy game the day before on the road. The Canadiens had 3 days off to prepare. The game itself was a tight game, one goal in the third and the fans really didn’t bring much energy to the Flyers until after Umberger scored.

The Flyers have 12 more 2 games in 2 days situations, all 12 they are traveling. The Canadiens only does this 6 time this year. Teams that travel should get at least a day between games.
