The Flyers try to get their first win of the season tonight in their home opener against the New York Rangers. The Flyers look to bounce back from the 4-0 loss to the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Thursday. The Rangers won their first game of the season beating the Capitals 5-2 in New York on Thursday.
Niittymaki will get the start it net tonight. We will see how his injured hip will hold up.
The CCR line is no more, at least for now. Umberger will be playing with Richards and Carter. Calder will be on the Nedved-Kapanen line.
Gauthier is expected back recovered from a concussion. This would leave Jones the odd D out, but Mike Rathje is a game day scratch and will be out indefinitely with a herniated disc. Reading up on herniated discs it looks like Rathje could be out 4 weeks to several months easily. That is if they decide to fix the problem instead of trying to just make it thru the season.
Cote will play in place of Kane.
Lars Jonsson is still out with an ankle sprain.
