I was somewhat surprised to see Pitkanen the Shitkanen traded. I figured the Flyers would give him another year to develop. He was not the only reason the Flyers sucked ass last year.
Maybe this vid is more then Fedoruk being, well Fedoruk. Maybe Pitkanen’s attitude was just not good for the team.
Or maybe it was because of this.
I can see Ed Snider getting all red in the face demanding all booger eaters be traded.
HEY!!,
I don’t even like the name that you and the fans called Joni Pitkanen, Shitkanen!! It really bother me when the fans called him that.
Let me tell you one thing, I really, really, really, and really love Joni Pitkanen so very much!!!! I was so very, very, very, and very upset and disappointed when the Flyers traded him to Edmonton. Joni is a very nice and sweet guy that I ever met!! I did a lot for him than I did for other players. I don’t know what I will do without him and hopely he will come back to the Flyers someday!!

The Shitkanen name was originally a compliment. I first heard it a couple seasons ago. The Flyers were suffering thru a rash of injuries and were on that long road trip in December. Pitkanen came up clutch late in several games and really showed some of his potential offensive ability. He played a big part in keeping the non-losing streak alive. Someone took this and Pitkanen and came up with the name. Then Joni suffered the sports hernia and really wasn’t the same when he returned later in the season.
This past season I think a lot of people were hoping for Pitkanen to step up his play, but he seemed to take a step backwards. The big thing that confused me about him was his stick. I don’t understand why he was using one so short. The other thing that confused me a bit was why his ice time wasn’t cut back. He was clearly struggling but still led the Flyers with ice time.
I was surprised to see him traded. I think the Flyers should have stuck with him for at least another year and do a better job of developing him.
