I have seen some people comment that they can not watch games due to being out of town or possibly not living in the Philly area anymore (that would be me)…so here is a solution I have come up with.
There is a product called Slingbox that is out on the market (it has been advertised many times on ESPN radio)… Basically this small box plugs just like a splitter would with your cable and TV and sends the signal to the internet. You on your laptop away for business, or me freezing my ass off moving to Alaska here in a few months can use the slingbox program to control the cable box wherever it is located.
Its a great idea if you still have family or friends back in PA who don’t mind hooking it up for you. The one I got was top of the line with the HD stuff and it was around 250ish…it doesn’t have HD quality, but still good for not having to buy every single sports package from the cable company (yes you can get all Philly stations…including eagles, flyers, sixers and phillies).
I also got a windows based mobile phone which you can download the slingbox player to and watch games on your cell phone…this is a great thing when the wifey wants to go out and I don’t have to miss a thing!
Check out bestbuy and circuit city or wherever you can because they have other options then just slingbox.
