Flyers make a point

WASHINGTON – All things considered – injuries, long road trip, an almost-unbeatable-at-home opponent – the Flyers felt like their 2-1 shootout loss Tuesday night was almost as good as a win. The Flyers finished their six-game, 11-day road trip with a 2-2-2 mark (2-0-2 in the last four games) and the one point moved them back into a tie with the Rangers for first place in the Atlantic Division. For the second time this season, the Flyers managed to shut down the Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin and that, in part, allowed them to get the game past regulation time. Considering Ovechkin has 12 career goals against the Flyers, the most against any team outside the Southeast Division, that was no small feat.
