With Daniel Briere a possibility for returning from abdominal surgery to play in tonight’s home game against Montreal, general manager Paul Holmgren had to make some moves. By putting defenseman Ossi Vaananen and center Glen Metropolit on waivers Thursday, Holmgren started the ball rolling in that direction.
