With their 3-2 win over the Islanders today, the Flyers are assured of finishiong either fourth or fifth in the conference and will face either Pittsburgh or Carolina in the first round of the playoffs. If the Penguins win tonight, they’ll move into a fourth-place tie with the Flyers. That would mean the Flyers would need to gain a point in Sunday’s season finale against the Rangers to secure the fourth spot and home ice in the first round against Pittsburgh. If the Penguins lose in regulation, the Flyers automatically clinch fourth place and will face Carolina, which has one more win than Pittsburgh
