So… Gary Bettman and the NHL are now gunning for the Blackhawks and the Flyers for potentially suspicious long-term contracts to veteran players like Hossa and Pronger. If I’m not mistaken, these very same deals were approved by the NHL prior to becoming official. Now the league wants to see if Homer and Tallon (or whoever’s at the helm now in Chicago) were doing some creative loophole discovery by designing long-term front-loaded contracts that they never expected these veterans to play out.
