Sooner or later – and many believe it will be sooner – Flyers coach John Stevens will start feeling the heat of the Flyers’ inconsistent play. After posting an 8-2-1 record in October, the Flyers finished off November with a 1-0 loss in Atlanta, giving them a 4-7-1 record in the month. They have now lost five of their last six games and have been outscored 20-12 in that span, falling from sixth in the conference to ninth. Stevens is now in his fourth season as Flyers coach and each season has been plagued by inconsistent play. The Flyers are currently in a scoring drought, having scored two goals or less in three of their last four games and scoring just two power-play goals in their last six games. THRASHERS 1, FLYERS 0 Playing their third straight game without Danny Briere (two-game suspension, one-game flu) the Flyers’ power play continued to struggle, going 0-for-4 and failing to score on a three-minute power play in the third period. The Thrashers scored their only goal against Brian Boucher on a two-man advantage in the second period. NOTES, QUOTES –Rookie LW James van Riemsdyk has been the victim of several big hits this season and another came when Atlanta’s Colby Armstrong caught him with an elbow in the third period
