What do you get when you combine a struggling offense with a goalie on the brink of NHL history? The offensively inept Flyers will find out on Saturday when they face Martin Brodeur and the streaking New Jersey Devils. The Flyers skate into their game in Newark having been shut out three times in their last six games – the first time that has happened in 41 years. Their power play, once the best in the NHL, has struggled recently, failing to score in six of their last seven games. They’ve also struggled on the penalty kill, where they have allowed seven goals in the past four games. It all amounts to a tough task for new coach Peter Laviolette, who is now 1-3 since taking over for John Stevens. SENATORS 2, FLYERS 0 Often times in the NHL, the team that leaves the rink with the most bruises wins.
