Is there a saying that goes something like “three is a trend?” Or is that just commmon knowledge or something? Either way, David Backes continued his run on the Canadian Olympic Team last night by dropping the mitts with superstar Rick Nash. Since the naming of the US and Canadian squads Nash has fought Corey Perry and Jonathan Toews as well. Not a very eventful fight except that it was only the 6th of Nash’s career:   Backes is a college kid from Minneapolis who left Minn- Mankato after his Junior year. Last year he became a 30 goal man at the age of 24 and although his numbers have fallen off a bit he’ll be counted on for some offense in Vancouver. And some Canadian ass pounding. I mean stomping
