Goalie Conundrum

The Flyers have turned suddenly hot in the past few weeks. Kinda like that game back in the 90’s – NBA Jam (“he’s heating up… he’s on FIRE!”). (Editor’s Note: NBA Jam was possibly the lamest game every created) Night after night, Michael Leighton has gotten the call, and night after night the Flyers have been picking up the wins. Is Leighton the savior of the Flyers , or did he just come in at the right time when a bunch of things were already coming together for the team? Let’s look at the facts: Flyers are 7-1-1 since Leighton joined the team, kicking off the current win streak on Dec. 23rd In that span, Leighton’s GAA has been 2.06 with .931 save percentage They have out-scoring opponents 60-to-22 The penalty kill has been increasingly effective and the goals have started pouring in So is it that Michael Leighton is just that darn good? Has he been a diamond in the rough that just never got his chance to shine and now is showing the world what he’s got?
