Game three between the Flyers and Devils gets going tonight in the craziest barn in the show. That’s right, this best of seven shifts back to Souf Philly with the Flyers having a great chance to go up 2-1 against the Devils. Both teams battled hard and went back and forth on Friday night. When Philly couldn’t capitalize in the first 10 minutes of third period on Friday, it gave the Devils enough time to push back, eventually taking advantage of a Parent-Bartulis D combo to get a greasy goal that wins you playoff hockey games. The Devils showed how they can bounce back while the Flyers were the ones feeling frustrated after going only 2-7 on the powerplay. Now with home ice advantage in the Flyers hands, it’s up to them to take care of business with 20,000+ of the best fans on the planet behind them. For the Flyers, the best thing they can do is to keep up the offensive pressure. On Friday they showed an improvement in the offensive zone over game 1 and it showed in many more scoring chances. One player leading the way was Claude Giroux. The Game Genie was everywhere, and clearly our best forward. One hopes the home ice keeps him buzzing. Keep peppering Marty any way you can and it’ll be a long day for anyone in Jersey red.  Two areas of concern is the inability to effictly clear the defensive zone, as well as missing players. Too many Devils chances come from our lack of clears. These two, three, four extra chances to dangerous players won’t win you many games. The Flyers need to do a much better job of winning initial battles in the D zone, and then finding a way to clear the zone (sans penalty) I know it’s rocket science, but if we keep the Devils from fore checking the ice tilts in our favor. The last thing I want to say is this: our missing players need to step up. Simon Gagne, Jeff Carter, Scott Hartnell, Braydon Coburn, Darrol Powe, Danny Briere. The rest of your team could use your help. Go out there and earn your paycheck. Even if its not on the score sheet, we need these guys to start contributing more, or it’ll be an early exit for the Orange & Black. It’s going to be loud and angry in that building today. It is a massively important tilt in this series. We all know what’s at stake. From the tailgate to the block party to Jigga’s PSA to the God Bless America to the final whistle, playoff hockey is back in Philly. No other atmosphere compares to what is going to happen at 6pm today. I hope the boys are ready. Let’s Go Flyers
