In one fortuitous night the Flyers went from being on the brink of elimination to the brink of clinching a playoff berth. While the Flyers were shutting down the Maple Leafs in Toronto with a solid 2-0 win Tuesday night, the ninth-place Rangers were beaten soundly in Buffalo and the 10th place Thrashers were getting blanked in Jersey. What does all this mean to the Flyers? They can clinch a playoff berth if the Rangers lose at home to the Leafs on Wednesday night. If not, they can kick the Rangers to the curb by winning one of their final two games against New York. Heck, the Flyers even have a shot at finishing with the sixth seed if they can close out the season with back-to-back wins over the Rangers Friday and Sunday. The seventh-seeded Flyers and sixth-seeded Canadiens are separated by one point and both have two games remaining. The Flyers hold the edge in wins if it comes down to a tiebreaker.
