I ephiphanied on Twitter last night. Even though as the game wore on it became more and more unbearable to watch the Leafs bury us in our own zone, I was excited to watch every minute of last night’s game. And that’s why, regardless of how many lessons you want to teach your club, you root for them to make the playoffs. Hockey’s almost too intense for the regular season. For it’s own good. Where as the baseball season is perfectly designed to allow missing pitches while you check your phone, missing innings while you wait for a Schmidter, and missing games because you just had something else to do – hockey is not. But it’s not quite football either, where you plan an entire day around watching one game a week and because of the slow pace probably never miss a snap all season
