Don’t really know what to say really. If your fire isn’t lit from Simon Gagne’s OT winner in game 4, then nothing will get you ready for tonight’s game 5. In Boston, down 3 games to 1. Elimination is staring each Flyer in the face. They know whats at stake, they’ve been playing in do or die games all season. One thing about this team, for all the ups and downs, is that I never saw the team give up. Sure, we were baffled by stupid penalties, injuries and poor performances, but the team never gave up. Through all the bullshit early on to the slump post Olympics to the end of the regular season, the team never quit. I don’t expect this team to quit playing hard. Ever. They’ll battle the rest of the way, be that until the end of tonight or until the parade down Broad Street. The Bruins have been a formidable foe, and have played the way you need to in the playoffs. Secondary scoring, team defense and stellar goaltending. They’ve disrupted the Flyers strong powerplay and have scored timely goals at 5 on 5. A good bounce here or there and this series could be 2-2, or even 3-1 Philly. But Boston put in the effort and work to get a 3-1 series lead. They are a very dangerous team and one that could easily come out and shutout the Flyers tonight en route to the Eastern Conference Final. Ageless wonder Mark Recchi and current #1 Flyer-killer of all time Miro Satan continue to torment our 3rd D pair. The matchups Claude Julien is getting with them on the ice is working wonders for the Bruins, something the Flyers need to stifle all night. Solving Tuuka will be key, as he’s been very solid at home during the playoffs. The B’s are the only undefeated team at home during these playoffs, something the Orange & Black will try to stop tonight. For the Flyers, being down to their last game…everyone has to play their best game of the season. It’s that simple. From Richards all the way down to Nodl. Pronger to Parent Anything less than that, against a team this solid, will have us all booking tee times for the weekend. Carcillo will play tonight, you can put that in you pipe and smoke it. Backs to the wall all season…Do or die is nothing new to this club. I expect this series to go back to Philadelphia. I expect the team that never has quit, to not start tonight. If they give it their all, there is nothing this team can’t do. Get ready for another nailbiter, and get ready to smash the psyche of Boston with a Mike Richards shaped sledgehammer. Nut up or shut up. Let’s Go Flyers.
