There are plenty of reasons the Flyers are in danger of becoming the first Eastern Conference team to be swept from the playoffs. The biggest seems to be their lack of offensive depth. With Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne sidelined with broken feet, the Flyers have asked Scott Hartnell, Dan Carcillo, James van Riemsdyk, Ville Leino, Darroll Powe and Arron Asham to fill the offensive void. In the first three games against the Bruins, that sextet has combined for one goal – Asham’s even-strength tally in Game 3. That, combined with a power play that has gone 0-for-8 over the past two games, has the Flyers on the brink of elimination. Mike Richards, Claude Giroux and Danny Briere have shouldered most of the offensive load, eating up more than 22 minutes a game. And their ice time is beginning to take its toll. “I don’t see why we should be (tired),†Richards said.
