Hawks Take Sloppy Game 1 Blackhawks to the left. Blackhawks to the right. The Chicago Blackhawks were wide open all night. I’m not going to bother recapping all of the goals and plays from last night. The Flyers lost 6-5, and played HORRIBLE defense throughout the entire game. The offense seemed fine, but that’s because Chicago looked pretty damn bad to. This is a game to forget, to bury the tape, and to not think about anymore. There’s not too much to learn. It’s not like Chicago found flaws in the Flyers system and exploited it. The Flyers simply did not play at all. They didn’t clog the neutral zone, they let the ‘Hawks into the zone with ease, and worst of all, they left Leighton out to dry. Nobody protected the slot, allowing Chicago to fire at will from the best place on the ice to shoot from. So it’s not an adjustment that the Flyers need. They need to go back to playing their system.
