I don’t have a similar recollection of JVR during the playoffs – what I saw was a forward with a lot of potential, probably in over his head a little, but I didn’t get nervous any time he touched the puck. Heck, I’m 10x more nervous when Pronger carries the puck than JVR or any of the other developing Flyers forwards. The wing position will be an interesting one and, arguably, the position to watch the most for the Flyers (yup, I’m marking that one above the goaltending – right here and right now!)

  2. No, I wasn’t nervous when he had the puck; I don’t think he’s stupid by any means. And yes, he had flashes of good play, especially when pair with Giroux from time to time. But he never really took over games, or had any dominant stretches in regular season or playoffs. I want to see a lot more from him. And unless Bobrovsky competes for the starting goalie spot, you’re probably right about the wing position being the most interesting one in camp.
