Briere suspended three games

Flyers center Danny Briere was slapped with a three-game suspension today for cross-checking Islanders forward Frans Nielsen in the face in the final minute of Saturday’s 6-01 win at the Wells Fargo Center. Briere, who is tied for the team lead with six goals, will be forced to sit out games against the Hurricanes tonight, the Rangers on Thursday and the Islanders on Saturday and will return Sunday in Washington when the Flyers face the Capitals.
