Michael Leighton told reporters after Monday’s practice that he’s NHL ready and expects top be cleared after being examined on Tuesday. If Leighton is cleared, the FLyers will need to remover a player from their 23-man roster to make room for him and it appears they will place defenseman Matt Walker on their injury list. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said Walker injured his hip in a game with the Phantoms over the weekend, but said, “I’m not sure” when asked how the injury occurred, leading to some speculation that Holmgren is fabricating Walker’s injury so that he can place him on the injured list, which removes him from the 23-man active roster, making room for Leighton.
