The Flyers will announce today that general manager Paul Holmgren’s contract has been extended three years, the Courier-Post has learned. Holmgren is in his fifth season as the Flyers’ GM and in his 32nd year as a member of the Flyers organization. Holmgren took over as general manager on Oct. 22, 2006 after Bob Clarke resigned. In his five seasons the Flyers have gone 177-144-44 and have made the playoffs three times, reaching the conference finals in 2008 and the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010.
