The Flyers violated the NHL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement when they signed free agent Max Talbot to a five-year, $9 million contract on Saturday, TSN.ca is reporting. According to the CBA in the final two years of a contract totaling at least four years, a team cannot pay a player less than half of what he is being paid in the first two years. Talbot agreed to a contract that pays him $2.5 million in 2011-12 and $2.25 million in 2012-213.
