The Flyers won’t know who they’re playing or whether they’ll have home-ice advance until Thursday night, but six possible second-round opponents was reduced to four on Wednesday night with the Washington Capitals taking out the Bruins in Game 7 of their first-round series with a 2-1 overtime victory in Boston. With the seventh-seeded Caps advancing, the fifth-seeded Flyers won’t be the lowest remaining Eastern Conference seed, so they won’t have to play the top-seeded New York Rangers in the second round
