I don’t buy the theory that Ron Hextall came back here as the No. 2 GM in waiting just so he could leave to go somewhere else to be the No. 1.
If that were the case, then why leave LA as the No.2 behind Dean Lombardi? Does being No. 2 in Philly mean more than being No. 2 in LA? Of course not.
Also, there has been a number of GM openings in the NHL – Montreal, Edmonton, Columbus, St. Louis _
