Meltzer’s Musings: 62-Second Implosion in Big D

In my preview to the Flyers-Stars game earlier today, I touched upon several keys to the game that ended up having direct bearing on the outcome of Dallas’ 5-1 win over Philly, as well as some that ended up being non-factors.

Let’s revisit these issues in deconstructing the result:

1. Containing Dallas’ top line:Tyler Seguin had missed two games with concussion-like symptoms, Jamie Benn had

WAS COMEBACK IN DETROIT A MOMENTUM-BUILDING WIN FOR FLYERS?

Any hockey coach or player will tell you that is always best to stay on a mental even keel during the marathon-like season. Looking at it in immediate aftermath, however, the Flyers’ offensive explosion after trailing by scores of 1-0 and 3-1 — and taking a ser

Meltzer’s Musings: Flyers Earn a Point, Lecavalier and Mason Earn a Second

The Philadelphia Flyers got their six-game road trip off to a good start, at least in terms of a favorable end result, as they captured a 3-2 win via shootout over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.

Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier scored in regulation. Vincent Lecavalier was the lone scorer for either side in the shootout. Steve Mason denied two successive shooters before Matt Cullen
