Michael Leighton: ‘I want to be the No. 1 guy’

Michael Leighton: On reports that he went missing after Game 7 in Buffalo: I was injured. I didn’t go AWOL. My agent was calling me asking if I left the team. No. The one game (Game 1 against Boston) in Philadelphia I was in the locker room all game and because I wasn’t seen in the press box (it was reported) I wasn’t at the rink

Scott Hartnell on Laviolette, Richards, etc.

Scott Hartnell: I’m not sure if we got comfortable or just kind of took it easy and we couldn’t get back that fighting edge. Some games we were great and other games we were average. We were consistent until we got to the top of the standings. You’re kind of looking down at everyone.

Peter Laviolette on Flyers goalie carousel

On Bobrovsky: He should walk away with a real positive year. This is a young goaltender who really wasn’t on the map when he first got here and he did a good job for us. He won a lot of hockey games, he got accustomed to the National Hockey League, to the language and the culture and he got to play in some playoff games. I think it’s a positive first step.

Boucher: ‘We got crushed against Boston’

The ending was extremely disappointing. Winning one round feels good, but the lasting memory we have now is that we got crushed against Boston. What makes it even more painful for me is that I’ve got to go back to that area this summer and be reminded of that every day.

Chris Pronger addresses injuries — sort of

Chris Pronger conference call – May 9, 2011 Q: Would you tell us what happened to you physically in the playoffs? “I’m still trying to figure it out. I have a few doctor’s appointments being set up for tomorrow, and I will know more as to my status and as to a direction where we’re headed with respect of trying to figure that out.” Q: Are you seeing a back, hand or knee specialist? There it is, I was wondering when you were going to get cute.

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara on sweep

Post Game Quotes Quotes courtesy of Boston Bruins PR BOSTON BRUINS DEFENSEMAN ZDENO CHARA On how much the win means to the team… Well I think that it’s, in some way it’s obviously a nice goal to reach, but at the same time I think that we are excited but we know that next round is going to be again a tough one. And we know who we are going to face. So we just have to get some rest and prepare for next round. But right now we are going to enjoy today’s victory.

Flyers defenseman Sean O’Donnell quotes

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS DEFENSEMAN SEAN O’DONNELL On why they lost the series… I’m not going to say the better team won, but the team that was playing better is moving on. They are hitting on all cylinders right now. We put a good effort tonight it just seems we weren’t hitting on all cylinders. It seemed like when we did get a chance it was jumping over a stick, or they were getting a stick in the lane

Quotes: Bruins goalie Tim Thomas

BOSTON BRUINS GOALTENDER TIM THOMAS On the talk of last year being put to rest… I hope so. To be quite honest, as a player you hear all the talk about what happened last year and you have to ignore it to be able to do what we just did, winning this series. But to be honest I’m glad that it’s over, I’m glad that it’s done with. Because the longer that series would have went the more talk about last year. So I’m glad that is put behind us as a team, as an organization and the fans
