Quotes: Flyers coach Peter Laviolette

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS HEAD COACH PETER LAVIOLETTE On what stood out to why they lost the series… Probably defensively, we weren’t able to generate what we had done all year. They did a good job through the neutral zone and a good job in their own end. We couldn’t penetrate. Defensively, I think they (the Bruins) did a pretty good job.

Quotes: Flyers left wing James van Riemsdyk

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS FORWARD JAMES VAN RIEMSDYK On why the Bruins dominated the series… You know what, I think, I don’t know, maybe they were doing a smarter job with the puck and, I don’t know, I didn’t feel like we had as many odd man rushes and chances off the rush through transition, so they did a good job of managing the puck and yeah, I don’t know, they tightened things up, obviously, a little bit too. On if Chris Pronger would have made a difference in the series if he were healthy… That’s something, you know, we can only speculate about but, obviously, I mean, his track record speaks for itself so I guess you never really know.

Quotes: Flyers captain Mike Richards

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS FORWARD MIKE RICHARDS On being swept in the series … It is disappointing whenever you end the season on a loss. Not sure where it went wrong. It’s a slippery slope when you stop playing your brand of hockey. Give the Bruins a lot of credit they played extremely well

Carter skates, Leighton practices, no Pronger

Flyers center Jeff Carter skated for about 10 minutes today and tried a few stops and starts before calling it a day. Sidelined with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee since Game 4 of the Flyers’ first-round series against the Buffalo Sabres, Carter appears doubtful for Game 3 and 4 in Boston. … Goaltender Michael Leighton, sidelined since Game 6 against Buffalo with a back injury, practiced with netminders Sergei Bobrovsky and Johan Backlund.

Brian Boucher will start Game 2

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette did not blink an eye today when asked who will be his starting goalie for tonight’s Game 2 against the Boston Bruins at the Wells Fargo Center. “Brian will go back in net today,” Laviolette said, referring to veteran netminder Brian Boucher. “Today for me is a game where we all have to go back in there and try and right some wrongs. Everybody gets an opportunity and he deserves it.” Boucher was pulled from Game 1 after allowing five goals on 23 shots in a 7-3 loss to the Bruins.
