Boucher in goal, Flyers deny Pronger report

Brian Boucher will get his first start of the 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs tonight in Buffalo when the Flyers try to take control of the their first-round series with the Sabres, which is even at one win apiece. Flyers coach Peter Laviolette announced his decision to reporters following today’s morning skate at HSBC Arena. Michael Leighton is expected to serve as Boucher’s backup, meaning rookie Sergei Bobrovskywill be a healthy scratch for the first time this season

I wanted to re-energize after the emotional roller coaster that the game was yesterday. It was emotionally probably one of the most up-and-down games I’ve ever had to play in. It was pretty wild.

Pronger expected to miss Game 3

Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger (broken right hand) did not skate Sunday and is expected to miss Game 3 and probably Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Pronger to practice with Flyers today?

Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger did NOT skate with the Flyers’ extra skaters today, which means he might be on the ice when the big club practices today at 11:30. Pronger has been sidelined since March 8 with a small fracture in his right (top) hand. Right now, both sheets of ice are being used by youth hockey teams — no Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis are not out there. The Flyers have ice at 11:30, but there is some question as to whether they will practice before their flight or simply gather for a team meeting. Meanwhile, left wing Andreas Nodl sat out the third period of last night’s 5-3 win with an undisclosed upper body injury and is being evaluated today

Flyers LW Andreas Nodl sat out the final period with an upper-body injury and will be evaluated again on Sunday. He is being listed as day-to-day.

Cousins Nick Boynton, Pete Orr trade jerseys

Flyers defenseman Nick Boyton of Nobleton, Ontario, exchanged uniforms with his second cousin, Phillies utility player Pete Orr of Richmond Hill, Ontario. The two grew up 30 minutes from each other, just north of Toronto.
