Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren Q: Can you clarify what is going on with Chris Pronger? “Well nothing really. We probably pushed it a little bit too quickly in rehab. I would classify it as a minor set back. We were kind of hoping that he would be able to play some games here at the end of the regular season, but that’s probably more than likely out of the equation.†Q: Are you just going to shelve him as a precaution

Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette Q: Did you feel in the first two periods that you had enough of pop or whatever that was a carry over the other night or just think that it was something missing from that third period? A: No, I think in the first period the quality chances were not that high. You know, Atlanta is fighting for their life tonight, if they lose they’re done. They came out and I thought they played hard defensively in the first period. I think the chances were both really low for both teams in the first period

CLINCHING SCENARIOS The Flyers have a “magic number†of six points to clinch the Atlantic Division, meaning any number of points adding up to six that are gained by the Flyers or lost by the Penguins would clinch the division for the Flyers. The Flyers have already clinched the first tiebreaker (overall non-shootout wins) over the Penguins. The magic number for the Flyers to clinch the Eastern Conference outright is eight points over Washington, meaning any number of points adding up to eight gained by the Flyers and lost by the Capitals would clinch the conference for the Flyers. A magic number of seven points would guarantee at least a tie in points; however, the tiebreakers are still undetermined. The Flyers currently lead the first tiebreaker with 43 non-shootout wins to Washington’s 40.

When we got in on the shootout I was just hoping we played decently in the first round

Philadelphia Flyers Defenseman Kimmo Timonen Q: What did you think of the team’s effort in the three big games this week? “Average.†Q: What can be done better? “Work harder.†Q: Their power play was a key for them tonight in terms of their [scoring], especially because of those bang-bang ways they got their goals. “Obviously power play and special teams are a big part for any team. They got two tonight, and that was the key.†Q: You keep saying you’re concerned with the way this team keeps playing over the span of 60 minutes.
