Howe Number Will Go Up

I know this is going to make Bill Meltzer happy … Finally, the Flyers will retire Mark Howe’s number. Here’s my story on CSNPhilly.com: click here

No Hard Feelings

One of the things that I like about Ilya Bryzgalov is that he is such a refreshing change in the dressing room. Not too many players sign a free agent contract with the Flyers and talk lovingly, emotionally and almost get teary-eyed about their former employers and wish them well. Ilya did that today at Skate Zone. He genuinely wishes the Phoenix Coyotes well and said several times how gra

Hall of Famer, Mark Howe

TORONTO _ Mark Howe had tears in his eyes. Talking about his late mother, Colleen. Talking about what his father, Gordie, and what he meant to him. Talking about his on-ice partner for so many years, Brad McCrimmon. “This is going to be an emotional day,” Howe said.

Not The Reason for Losing, but Bad Just the Same

The OLD Bryz Is Back

He’s baaaaaack. That would be the dear, old Ilya Bryszgalov we have come to know and love in such a short time in the FLyers dressing room. Not the censored Bryz. But the outgoing, funny, sarcastic Bryz. Remember his meltdown after going 0-4-1 with a 4.63 goals against average and .821 save percentage?

The Bryz Is About to Go Silent

From the very first day that goalie Ilya Bryzgalov arrived in Philly, he proved to be a guy who loved to chatter. He was clearly the star of the Flyers dressing room. His humor lit the place up every morning. He joked with teammates and media on a daily basis

Schenn on LTIR For Cap Relief

As I reported earlier on CSNPhilly.com, Brayden Schenn has a fracture of the left foot after blocking a shot from PK Subban on WED in Montreal. I saw Schenn limping slightly coming out of the showers after the game but there was no hub-bub around him.

Should NHLPA Mandate Visors?

Darren Dreger raised a question on Twitter on Tuesday about visors/shields that I had not considered. Let’s go back to Monday night’s game against Toronto. Chris Pronger takes a stick to the right eye on an attempted shot by Mikhail Grabovski. I am told the blade caught him flat around the right eye, causing swelling and a cut. The Flyers feel Pronger was lucky that the stick him hit that

The 3 Commandments

After more or less throwing his defense under the Zamboni on Saturday night about “communication” issues, goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, who did not start MON vs. Toronto, got to work on commands today. Bryz spent 15 minutes before anyone else got on the ice working with goalie coach Jeff Reese on commands. You know, the commands he told the media he wanted to hear from now on in net: Play it,
