Pronger Expects to Play 82 Games

Chris Pronger is feeling a lot better and was in a chipper mood and joking around with reporters today during a conference call. Now here’s the rub: right right hand – not his back _ is what is holding up his rehab and why he will not make the start of training camp. Here’s the transcript courtesy of the Flyers: Chris Pronger Conference Call- August 8, 2011 Q: How are you feeling

Primes vs. Richie and Danny

If you’ve been following our All-Time Flyer series on CSNPhilly.com, you’re aware we hit the 2000s last week. The competition was keenest between Chris Pronger and Kimmo Timonen as the fan favorite for this era on the blue line. What I thought was most telling was the competition at center among Keith Primeau, Mike Richards and Danny Briere

The Big E vs. Roddy

On July 20, we posed the question of whether fans would see Ron Hextall over Pelle Lindbergh as the Flyers’ best goalie for their particular era. There was pretty good debate both here on Hockeybuzz and CSNPhilly.com as to who got the nod, but in the end, most people chose Hextall, who was influential on the game itself and with the Flyers through two, different decades. It’s hard to judge

Pelle or Hexy?

If you are following me on CSNPhilly.com, you know we’re running an All-Time Flyers’ Team (1st and 2nd units) under the heading, “My Favorite Flyer.” There is some confusion where readers are trying to decide who is their FAVORITE Flyer vs. who was better. Jagr Conference Call Transcript

Courtesy of the Flyers Flyers RW Jaromir Jagr Q: Why Philadelphia, over Pittsburgh or other teams? Before I start talking, it surprised me when you said money – there were a lot more teams with a higher offer than Philadelphia. I didn’t think I was going to go there, but after the conversation with the coaches and Chris Pronger, I started to like it and I also like that there is

The Hole in the Middle

Now that we’ve all had time to sit back and see how things settled in for the Flyers following the blowup of their center position last week, it’s time to see where they stand. From the outset, most people thought the Flyers would move either Jeff Carter or Matt Carle to create salary cap space to sign goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. You knew the Flyers would move $5 million, regardless of whe

The 64 Million Dollar Question

The Flyers see the reports of the $64 million salary cap as an additional boon to them, since it means about $5 million more in salary they can add and they are faced with having to lose at least $5 million to sign Ilya Bryzgalov. And also re-sign some of their other players. Another point to consider is that with the base floor going to $48 million, other clubs that are well under the sal
