Ray Shero’s Speech at HHoF

Great time tonight in Toronto at the Hockey Hall of Fame where Fred Shero was finally given a long, overdue honor.

Here is the acceptance speed from his son, Ray:

On behalf of the entire Shero family, I’d like to thank my father’s good friend, Pat Quinn, Mr. Jim Gregory, Kelly Masse from the Hall of Fame and the entire Hall of Fame election committee. My dad’s inclusion tonight into ho

No Easy Task This Week

Ottawa, Pittsburgh and Winnipeg.

Three teams that simply give the Flyers fits – most games _ regardless of whether the team is doing good or bad.

Three road games where the Flyers need to pick up points and climb back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

Of the group, Pittsburgh is the only town where the Flyers have done well in past years, both in the regular season and playoffs

Emery Tonight; G-Man Woes

NOTE: Ray Emery, who took the morning skate “off” will start in goal tonight vs. the Devils. He has a 1.90 GAA and .931 save percentage against the Devils lifetime in 11 games (6-3-2) and 2 shutouts

He had one of those grim faces on.

And yet, Claude Giroux was trying very hard to smile for the beat writers in Carolina at the morning skate this week.

The conversation was about his

First Shutout Win

One night after the Flyers were thoroughly embarrassed by the Capitals …

One night after Ray Emery shamed himself and the Flyers with his assault on Braden Holtby …

One night after the Flyers plummeted to as low as you can go …

They rebounded with a stunning, 1-0 victory against the Devils in a building that hasn’t been very friendly to them since it opened – Prudential Center.

Vote on Downie Deal

You don’t have to be a math major to understand the overwhelming majority of Flyers fans/followers absolutely detest the Steve Downie deal.

Not that Max Talbot was ever an “untouchable” as an NHL player but because this appears, on the surface, to be another one of those “same as always” trades the FLyers make to bring someone back from the past.

Put it another way … the so-called “change

Who’s That With Snider?

When I was a student at Penn State, there was a joke going ’round about Pope Paul VI.

It’s been too long for me to remember the specifics, but I do remember this: The punch line was, “So who was that guy with so-and-so?”

The joke was some guy being more famous than the Pope and everyone knew him on sight. Instantly.

Which brings me to Ed Snider, the most powerful figure in Comcast. Brian

Much To Like From One Game

So many things went right for the Flyers on Saturday night at the Island, you walk away from Nassau Coliseum thinking to yourself, ‘hey, maybe they have finally turned a corner.’

Flyer fans hope so as does Comcast which has to be a little concerned right now about the number of empty seats at games.

Yes, the team sells out in advance most games, but when a couple thousand people are no-shows

Hartnell Back; McGinn Gone

Scott Hartnell is back.

And Tye McGinn is gone.

That’s the crux of the news out of Flyerdom on Friday.

I can’t ever recall the Flyers under Paul Holmgren sending their “leading” scorer down to the minors but with 3 goals, McGinn got bounced to create a roster spot for Hartnell.

And while you can scoff at the move, it makes sense because McGinn had not gotten a single shot or point sin

Rookie Goalie Debut vs. Flyers

With Henrik Lundqvist still nursing an unspecified “minor” injury, the Rangers will go up against the Flyers tonight with a rookie goalie.

Say hello to 26-year-old Cam Talbot. He’ll be making his NHL debut.

He knows nothing about any of the Flyers except … Zac Rinaldo.

The two played together in junior at Hamilton and then played against each other in the AHL.

Talbot seems to have a
