Coburn out with ankle injury

According to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren, defenseman Braydon Coburn will miss tonight’s game against the Bruins in Boston with an ankle injury. He is being listed as day-to-day. Ole-Kristian Tollefsen is expected to take Coburn’s spot in the lineup tonight and will either skate alongside Kimmo Timonen or Oskars Bartulis. If Tollefsen plays on the third pairing, Ryan Parent will move up onto the second pairing with Timonen. Just for kicks, if Oskars Bartulis and former Flyers defenseman Freddy Meyers were paired together, could we call them Oskars-Meyer?

Holmgren: Betts, Powe to miss 4-6 weeks

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Sunday center Blair Betts dislocated his right shoulder and will miss 4-6 weeks with the injury. Holmgren also stated winger Darroll Powe will miss 4-6 weeks with a strained left shoulder. As a result, David Laliberte likely will remain with the club through Christmas and the Flyers may recall a center from the Phantoms. Newcomer Stephane Legein is one of the possibilities for a recall
