Would You Trade Brayden Schenn or Keep Him?

There is little question that new Flyers’ GM Ron Hextall is up against it this summer in trying to retool the Flyers with limited cap dollars.

The $6.5 million or so he has now at his disposal isn’t going to cut it compared to what he really needs unless he makes a bold move to trade two salaries for one.

Six players are due for salary increases and four have significant ones, led by Claude

Wednesday Quick Hits

* Many times in recent years, the Flyers have bumped up against the 50-contract reserve list limit as they prepare for the next season. This year, the Flyers are actually in good shape in terms of available slots to add and sign prospects.

Meltzer’s Musings: Rinaldo’s Role

Meltzer’s Musings: Bourdon On Comeback Trail Again

The Flyers face a tough decision this summer with restricted free agent defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon. The 24-year-old, who showed promise in 45 games as a rookie at the NHL level during the 2011-12 season, has missed most of the last two seasons due to post-concussion syndrome.

Bourdon has dressed in just 41 games since February 18, 2012. He has sustained four concussions in that time span —

Meltzer’s Musings: What is a Fair Contract for Brayden Schenn?

Flyers center Brayden Schenn has now completed his entry level contract and can become a restricted free agent on July 1. New Flyers general manager Ron Hextall recently told Comcast Sportsnet Philadelphia that re-signing Schenn is his top priority. Days before he was officially moved up the front office ladder from general manager to club president, Paul Holmgren said that there have been no dis
