Please see the following transcript of Simon Gagne’s comments on his decision to have surgery tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 3)… Simon Gagne Q: Talk about the decision you made today… “Well, after meeting with three doctors and a different opinion on a lot of things, we went right to the bottom [of it] to make sure we were making the right decision for myself, for the team and for the future, to go and do the surgery. So basically now we are going to go ahead and do the surgery and after that get on a program after the surgery to make sure those types of injuries don’t happen to me anymore.” Q: You’re going to be out six to eight weeks, how disappointed are you to hear this news? “It’s hard, it’s hard to take because surgery you usually try and stay away from during the season. Briere leaves practice with lower body injury

Already facing the loss of Simon Gagne, the Flyers saw Danny Briere leave the ice Friday with what appears to be another groin strain. Briere almost certainly will miss Saturday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes. He missed 53 games last season with a series of groin and abdominal injuries. Gagne Injured Again

Simon Gagne still has some issues going on in his right groin/hip, apparently. That’s why he played just one shift in the third period of Sunday’s loss to San Jose and that’s why he is “doubtful” according to GM Paul Holmgren for tomorrow’s game at Washington. Gagne is undergoing an ultra sound today to determine if this is all related to his previous groin pull or last May’s hip surgery.

Per Paul Holmgren: “Riley Cote had successful surgery to repair his injured right ring finger.   This surgery was performed by Dr. Tom Graham at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore.  Riley will spend the night and return to Philadelphia tomorrow.   Riley will miss the rest of the season while recovering from surgery.”
